Program 2025, S. Giorgio Church, Varenna
Consecrated in 1313, the Church of S. Giorgio is a fine example of 14th century Lombard architecture. Situated in the Piazza of the same name and structured on three naves, it has a rose window on the façade and a fresco depicting St Christopher.
The current high altar, inaugurated in 1822, is in Baroque style, with a black and red marble altar table and inlays. The tabernacle, on the other hand, is in neoclassical style. The flooring, entirely made of black marble from Varenna, is also unique. The interior frescoes are of considerable beauty.
